Evans ready to face old club

ROTHERHAM United manager Steve Evans says this weekend's return to old club Crawley Town holds no fears for him.

It was his exploits in taking the small Sussex outfit into the Football League and twice to the fifth round of the FA Cup that prompted chairman Tony Stewart to recruit the Scot 16 months ago.

Tomorrow's League One clash marks his first return to the Broadfield Stadium as an opposition manager, adding an extra edge to the occasion.

Evans though is only concentrating on trying to collect a first league win and intends treating the match against Richie Barker’s side like any other.

He told the Advertiser: “I am glad it has been a while since I left because it does just become another game and as I've said before, it's just another stop on a 46-platform train journey.

“I'm still good friends with the Crawley owners, who are good people. I went back there twice last season to check on players and got a fantastic reception. From the minute I parked in the car park, people embraced me and said they missed me but come 3 o'clock tomorrow they'll be rooting for their team."

The Millers will see how last season's leading scorer  Daniel Nardiello (hamstring) performs in training before deciding whether he travels.
