Evans rallies the troops

MANAGER Steve Evans wants to see Rotherham United get their pride back when he makes his long-awaited return to the touchline this weekend.

Having completed his six-match stadium ban, he will be back in the dugout at Aldershot Town tomorrow in the wake of Saturday's embarrassing 3-0 defeat to Southend United.

The result left the Millers in the bottom half of League Two, well short of expectations, and left Evans exasperated by what he'd seen.

He and the players have come in for criticism from certain quarters this week and having seen how much the result hurt them, he is expecting a positive reaction against struggling Aldershot and at home to Morecambe on Tuesday.

He told the Advertiser: "Saturday was unacceptable. It shocked me. My teams have taken beatings before and they will do so again but never have I felt as sick to the stomach as I did at 5pm last Saturday.

"If that was a one-off, I will be happy with that, but I don't want it to be a two-off.

"We had the players in on Sunday and Monday to go over it and there were sad faces and humble apologises.

"We let everyone down and we certainly owe our travelling supporters a good performance tomorrow."

Utility man Kari Arnason is back from back international duty and available again. Striker Alex Revell returns from a three-match suspension.
