Evans looks to strengthen

ROTHERHAM United will try to add to their squad this week.

Having brought Tom Eaves in on loan from Bolton Wanderers last week, manager Steve Evans wants to strengthen his options ahead of this weekend's home date against top-end League One rivals Peterborough United.

Speaking after Saturday's 1-1 draw at Walsall, Evans said: "We will try and do some further business in the week ahead. We want to get stronger because it is a tough, tough league, as we saw on Saturday. You look at the results on the day and there's a lot of good teams.

"We have got our players very focussed and giving 100 per cent in every game. Competition here is good and I just want one or two positions where competition gets tougher."

Evans said the club's interest in Leeds United winger Ryan Hall had cooled a week ago. The 25-year-old has since joined Sheffield United.

While pleased to see the Millers extend their unbeaten league start to eight games at Walsall, Evans insisted that Stuart Attwell denied his team a chance of victory by waving away penalty claims for a push on goal scorer Daniel Nardiello.

"I was especially pleased the previous week to get a late winner against Oldham and we could have been going away from Walsall with another victory. I was very frustrated," added Evans.

The Millers sit fifth, three points off second-placed Peterborough.
