Devitt pushes for swift debut

ROTHERHAM United new boy Jamie Devitt is pushing for a swift debut in the FA Cup against Stevenage this weekend.

The 22-year-old winger joined on a month's loan from Hull City yesterday and has been cleared by his parent club to play in the competition.

With Lionel Ainsworth set to bet out for between two and three months after dislocating a shoulder last weekend, Devitt has a chance to stake a claim.

A Hull youth product, he made 18 appearances the season before last but has since been pushed down the pecking order by new arrivals and needs to get games. He has also had loan spells at Darlington, Shrewsbury, Bradford and Accrington.

Evans said: "Like Josh Morris, who we brought in last week, I think we have a player our supporters will like.

"He's lively and exciting and he can also play on the left and if he goes well in training he will certainly be in contention tomorrow."

Fellow loanees Morris and Lee Frecklington also have permission to play as the Millers chase a fourth straight win against a Stevenage side flying high in League One.
