Defender joins Millers

ROTHERHAM United have signed defender Claude Davis from Crawley Town.

The Jamaican international penned an 18-month deal with the club this afternoon after the Millers beat off several clubs to land his signature. The deal is subject to Football League ratification.

Manager Steve Evans, who worked with Davis at Crawley, said: "We knew around tea time yesterday that Claude had made his decision.

"It came down to two clubs from around six or seven that wanted him and I think he limited himself to speaking to four of those.

"It was never a surprise to me that he was in big demand. For a year-and-a-half he was outstanding for me. Claude is man who will defend with his heart and he'll be a good signing at the right time for us."
