Defender in loan move

MILLERS defender Richard Brindley has joined Scunthorpe United on emergency loan until January.

The move will give the young right-back the chance of some competitive action. He's made three appearances this term, the last in the draw at Norwich early last month.

With the loans transfer window due to close on Thursday, manager Steve Evans wants reinforcements to help check a poor run of results.

The Millers are without a win in six after Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to another team struggling at the bottom end, Birmingham City.

Evans admitted afterwards that he needs new additions to add to his latest recruit, winger Emmanuel Ledesma, who joined on an emergency loan from Middlesbrough last week.

He said: "We need two or three. You only have to look at the team to see that because seven or eight of them were with us in League Two and League One.

"Some are stepping up admirably and some will step up but if you're bringing players in then they have to be of the right quality and if they're like the young man from Middlesbrough then we'll be fine."
