Danny misses out at US PGA championship

ROTHERHAM golfer Danny Willett's first taste of the golfing big time ended in disappointment at the US PGA Championship.

The 22-year-old was given a wild card to the event at the Straits Course in Wisconsin but failed to make the cut.

Willett was unlucky because his first round was interrupted by fog and he had to return to complete the 18 holes, finishing two-over-par.

As one of the first players out on Friday morning, he also copped for bad weather and suffered with other players.

The event was won by the German, Martin Kaymer, after a three-hole play-off against the USA's Bubba Watson.
