Cricketers look ahead to new era

AMBITIOUS Phoenix say they are ready to put the winter of discontent behind them as the countdown to the new cricket season begins.

The Brinsworth club was saved from the brink of closure two months ago with the re-formation of the committee, alongside a move to condense the playing side to one senior team competing in the South Yorkshire League Division Three.

They will also run a Barnsley Sunday League side and, with an eye on developing future talent, will have junior sides at U9, U11 and U13 levels.

“We are looking forward to a new era,” said new Vice-Chairman Richard Tong.

Officials are delighted to announce the return of Josh Daniels, whose performance at Phoenix at the South Yorkshire Senior League dinner in 2009 was extremely well received. Josh will be joined by Micky Gunn and compere Malcom Lord. The cost is £27 per head and anyone interested should contact Richard on 07868 848185 or Chairman Dave Arnold on 07710 692548.
