Competition is good for squad, says Titans new boy

FLAME-haired Irishman David McGregor was given his third start as Titans beat Moseley - and he admits the rivalry with Alex Loney for the hooker’s jersey is good for the squad.

The Ulster academy product has already become one of the bright spots in Andre Bester’s crop of young protegees. It’s easy to see why the Ballynahinch forward made it into the Irish U20 ranks.

Along with the more established Loney, he’s been vying for a starting role since arriving in South Yorkshire but says that whichever player gets the call it’s all in the best interests of the team.

“It’s good that both Alex and myself are chasing starts. It means you can’t relax and you have to be on your toes all the time,” he said.

Titans travel to Bedford tomorrow.
