Clubs to benefit from Olympic legacy

TWO clubs are to benefit from Olympic legacy funding — giving them a major shot in the arm after years of being plagued by vandals.

Kiveton Park Miners Welfare Scheme is one of four sports clubs in South Yorkshire to benefit to the tune of almost £200,000 as part of the Sport England scheme.

The Welfare Scheme oversees both Central Midlands League Kiveton Park FC and Kiveton Park Colliery CC, who both use the dual-sport venue off Hard Lane which has proved a vandal-magnet over the years.

A £50,000 grant has now been awarded from the Inspired Facilities Olympic legacy fund. It will be used to fund a range of improvements to its three football pitches, changing facilities, cricket ground and pavilion.
