Classy Millers hit four

ROTHERHAM United moved into the League One play-off frame with a stylish victory over Gillingham at the New York Stadium.

Goals from Nouha Dicko, Kieran Agard, Ben Pringle and new loan signing James Tavernier – three of them in a sparkling first half – clinched a 4-1 win against the outclassed visitors.

On-loan man Dicko curled in his second in as many games to set the Millers on their way and Kieran Agard doubled the advantage from close range before the half-hour mark. It was the forward’s 11th of the season.

Peeling off some super football, Rotherham ran the Gills ragged and it was no surprise when Pringle, who was the orchestrator of so much of their best work, strode forward to fire in for 3-0.

They could have had more goals before the break and the visitors were relieved to back into the changing room without further damage.

Cody McDonald’s 65th minute reply gave them brief hope but Rotherham, still retaining control, had a deserved final say when Newcastle United man Tavernier cut inside to thump home their fourth.

Millers: Collin, Tavernier, Skarz (Brindley38), Arnason, Morgan, Agard, Tidser (Tubbs 88), Frecklington, Pringle, Revell (Vuckic 83), Dicko
