Boss delighted with cup win

ROTHERHAM United boss Steve Evans praised his team's character as they held off Stevenage to reach the second round of the FA Cup.

A Mark Bradley strike and a Lee Frecklington double had them 3-0 up in the early in the second half before the visitors pegged it back to 3-2.

The Millers saw out the tie to book a home date against another League One outfit, Notts County, in the next round and Evans said the win was well deserved.

"We could have been 4-1 or 5-1 up at half time," he said. "Stevenage were always going to have a spell and when they came back I looked for character in my team and we showed that.

"You have got to give my players because Stevenage have won six out of seven away games and are a good side.

"Arguably we'd have settled for 10-9 or 5-4 or 1-0 and thankfully for us it was 3-2. It was a great win."

Striker Daniel Nardiello missed the match with a groin strain and the Millers hope to have him available for tomorrow's league trip to Fleetwood Town.
