Blackett takes over at Titans

The 31-year-old will officially take over at the Clifton Lane helm this morning after the club board, chairman  Nick Cragg and director of rugby Martin Jenkinson, gave him their backing to take over from Alex Codling, who signed off his six-month tenure last week.

And Blackett says he’s optimistic that the club can kick on and consign a difficult off-field year to history.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge and the board have said they will back me to the hilt,” he says.

“We are in a good position now with the number of players we’ve signed, probably better than we’ve ever been in, and I know we’ll all pull together and start looking to the future."

He added: “I’ll give it everything I’ve got here because I’ll never forget what Rotherham Rugby Club has done for me over the years.”
