ATHLETICS: Rotherham Harriers flying high after 'great team effort' secures promotion

ROTHERHAM Harriers Athletics Club are celebrating a promotion.

The club can look forward to higher grade competition in the Yorkshire Development League Lower Age Group next season after its U13s/U15s team secured third place in the fourth and final League East Division One meeting at the Eco Power Stadium in Doncaster.

Rotherham  fielded a strong line-up yet again in wet conditions and their performance, added to their cumulative position after the opening three fixtures, meant overall the team were placed second and secured promotion to the Premier Division next year

Club secretary Steve Gaines said: “ It was a great team effort across the whole series. We have seen a number of new athletes competing for the first time for the club, trying a range of events across both track and field with some outstanding performances. It has been great to see athletes do that to contribute to the overall success and we will continue as a club to encourage all athletes in our lower age groups to continue to do this.
