The new man is due to take charge of the Titans when they return to National Two North action away to Chester on Saturday.

Sheffield RUFC, from the Midlands Premier, said in a statement: "Whilst this is a sad day for the club, we would like to place on record our great thanks to Adam for his 12 years of fantastic service and the superb memories he has given us all.

"He leaves the club currently sitting 1st in the table and everyone at Sheffield RUFC wishes Adam the best of luck at Rotherham Titans where we are certain he will be a huge success."

Byron won 106 of the 169 games he managed at Sheffield.

The club added: "In that time we have seen some unforgettable rugby; one miracle escape, two promotions, one relegation and a Yorkshire Cup Final."
