Rotherham people with physical or mental health issues can find getting a job or holding one down difficult. Working Win provided by Shaw Trust is there to help people just like you.

Finding and keeping a job can be difficult in the current climate: Add a physical or mental health condition into the mix, and it can seem an impossible goal.

But Working Win, provided by Shaw Trust, is a free service t help you find a meaningful job, or to stay in your current role.

People like you – VM’s own story

VM was an out of work participant who came to us after finally deciding to leave a role that was having a negative impact on her health.

VM recently had surgery on her hand and shoulder; she also has diabetes, and lives with both anxiety and depression. She’s worked in various roles in finance for over 20 years but was struggling to see where her next role could be now that her health had changed.

Reasonable adjustments

After looking for part time roles to better meet her current needs VM was successful in finding a position as an account administrator. VM enjoyed the job and found that her stress levels were lower than in her previous employment.

After struggling with her sleep, and the knock-on effect that had on her ability to be effective at work, Working Win supported VM to speak to her line manager about adjusting her hours. VM’s line manager was able to offer VM a later start on a Friday, the day VM struggled with her energy levels, which greatly improved her experience at work.

VM said: “Since deciding to mutually leave a job that was impacting my health the Working Win service has made me realise that it wasn’t as hard to get a lower level job.

“This has helped my health improve and I have also realised that the services that I have received are very extensive in from the knowledge of my advisor. The free sources that I have been given or directed towards, that I knew nothing about before using this service, are endless.

“I would highly recommend the service whether you are in or out of work, struggling with your health or wanting to understand what is available to you.”

Find out if you are eligible

To be eligible you must be aged 16 or over, and live in or are registered with a GP in Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham or Sheffield.

Working Win provided by Shaw Trust, works closely and is partly-funded by the South Yorkshire Combined Mayoral Authority.
