Young film-makers honoured!

PROMISING film-makers were given the red carpet treatment as Rotherham’s equivalent of the Oscars were handed out.

The curtain was brought down on the annual Rotherham Children’s Festival with the ROSCARS, which celebrates the short film projects carried out by students around the borough during the school year.

Star guests at the New York Stadium on Friday included Star Wars characters Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper, while Beauty and the Beast also greeted the crowd.

And there were plenty of animated youngsters among their number, with the winners in the animation category including St Bede’s Catholic Primary School, Herringthorpe Junior School, Sitwell Juniors.
