We have been let down over Green Belt

I AM taking this opportunity to highlight what we the residents of Greasbrough consider to be our last ditch attempt to request the council to desist from their intention to develop the green belt land around Bassingthorpe Farm.

I AM taking this opportunity to highlight what we the residents of Greasbrough consider to be our  last ditch attempt to request the council to desist from their intention to develop the green belt land around Bassingthorpe Farm.

For these past four-five years, we the residents of the parish and indeed rural areas, were given the opportunity to enter into a ‘Consultation’ procedure (pertaining to the development) as the thousands of objections to date have had very little impact upon RBC, much to the distaste of residents wishing to ‘hang on’ to our Green Belt.

There has been a huge wedge driven into this society, creating a discord between RBC and we the residents who pay their salaries and we now feel let down by these elected representatives.

I personally find little time for such people considering their exposure to transparency!

Resulting from my frustration I have sought to request the ‘Independent Inspector’ Mr Richard Horrocks (whom has been assigned by the Secretary of State to evaluate the ‘Soundness of the Concept Plan’) to look more closely into these circumstances on behalf of the residents of Greasbrough.

I cannot begin to understand how this debate has been stretched so far!!

There are also a number of people with a vested interest towards these proceedings, principally representatives of ‘Property Developers’, invited to the hearing. This goes a long way into my suspicion that once again this is a further step to promote the plans.

There’s been a lot of discussion in the media lately where developers have been requested to empty their pockets of huge swathes of hand which they are sat on, in the hope of the creation of a ‘housing bubble’. Let’s all hope the ‘bubble’ is quickly inflated and then perhaps they’ll relinquish their grip on our valuable Green Belt!
