Too many chiefs

RE: 750 jobs to go at Rotherham Hospital. I worked at Rotherham Hospital for many years and the term "too many chiefs & not enough Indians" could have been invented for this place.

The top brass have for a number of years empire-built to such an extent that the organisation is so top heavy with middle management or suits full of naff all as they are known, that a mass cull was inevitable.

All good for the top brass because they can hide behind the empire they've built and therefore survive said cull.

In my experience the redundancies will be sorted out as follows: Voluntary redundancie. Middle management will be looked after. People who have been on good salaries will have first crack of the redundancy "cake". They'll come out with a good amount of money.

Mandatory redundancy: This will affect "the Indians". Management will cherry pick staff that have got less than five years service in because it will cost next to nothing to get rid of them.

The top brass on the largest salaries will remain untouched, free to grin inanely on the front cover of the "Tiser"/

PS Mr James (chief executive) was on a basic salary of £160k TWO years ago, that is £50k MORE than an average consultant. Makes me wonder if he is "insentivised" into making these latest cuts?
