Re Fostering scandal: UKIP and the major political parties have shamefully seized on this episode to wield the verbal cudgels and yet again attack over worked public sector workers on a story based on supposition and hysteria.

However, what is missing from any of the hand wringing of these supposedly concerned politicians is comment on the disproportionate burden of cuts imposed on the Rotherham council equating to £200 per person so far by the ComDem government.

By comparison the cuts endured by councils in the Tory heartlands of Surrey, Kent etc equate to a few pence per person. It is sickening and disingenous in the extreme that no-one from any of these parties lining up to condemn the social workers involved has pledged to reverse the cuts or defend the public services that the many vulnerable people in Rotherham depend on to have a half decent chance of a reasonable life.
