Sir,  In July and August the summer of 2010 we at the K. Pk. Club 50+ were encouraged and invited by the council's Green Spaces through Mr Brian Beeley, the chairman of The Friends' of Barkers' Park Association, to attend a six-week bowls coaching taster course with the view to forming a new community crown green bowls club.

This was a great success and very well attended by the 50+ club members and others from the community and in October of last year The Barkers' Park Bowls Club was formed and is now registered with the Green Spaces body.

We as a club started the new bowls season on Tuesday April 5 and ten out of our twelve registered members attended, which meant we only needed to bowl on one green.

However on Tuesday April 12, the playing membership increased to twenty one and will hopefully rise further. We therefore will need the use of both greens every Tuesday.

Our predicament is if the council closes a green, are they also going to take on the responsibility of deciding which of our members can or can't be accomodated, or do we as a newly encouraged club have to reduce our membership and cancel our intentions to create further interest with local school children, their families and the vulnerable or handicapped people by providing coaching lessons for them through funding that has already been cut to zero? Also have our CR. checks been a waste of time?

Where do we go from here? If anyone wants to contact me or join the club phone my  07877708939 anytime.

Mr R.W.Cooke B. Pk. B. Club. treasurer, Roughwood Road, Rotherham.
