Path is dangerous

IN response to the article dated November 21, ‘Safety Fears Fuelled By Path Closure’, the residents of both Staple Green (elderly residential area) and The Paddocks have had years of aggravation whilst this path was open.

Every single day of the week (but, more so at weekends) the residents have had to put up with off road bikes/quad bikes/scooters (South Yorkshire Police will verify this as they had the helicopter out every single weekend confiscating these bikes — only for them to reappear a week later). There has been vandalism, used condoms thrown onto the gardens backing onto this path and vast amounts of litter (mainly empty beer cans). It’s very rare the path is used by cyclists/dog walkers as they feared being run over by off road bikes. It was literally a hell hole.

In response to Adrian Barker’s view that ‘children now have to cycle on the roads/footpaths and it is dangerous’, I’m sorry to disagree but I wouldn’t allow my children to ride their bikes on this overgrown and dangerous path. The Nature Reserve can be accessed by the proper route on Hollings Lane.
