My English identity has been stolen

Sir—Are there any English people in England? In case anyone hasn’t noticed yet, our national identity has been stolen from us by politicians and policy makers.

I was born and bred in Maltby of English parents and English heritage. I have just completed a Mori poll in conjunction with RMBC and there was a list of nationalities and ethniciticies but nothing for the English. If you ask a Scot, a Welshman or Irishman/woman what is there nationality they will tell you Scottish/Welsh and Irish but I am supposed to be British along with all the migrants from all over the world who have come to live in this country.

I don’t take kindly to having my nationality stolen from me. Anyway, back to the form filling, where it says white British I crossed out British and put “English”. As far as I am concerned if you are born in this country you have the right to be English.

I urge you to do the same when filling out forms for whatever reason.
