Marathon man Ray completes his gruelling challenge

Not a lot of people believed pensioner Ray Matthews when he said he was going to run 75 marathons in 75 days for his 75th birthday.
But when grandad-of-three Ray - who only started running at the age of 60 - crossed the finish line at Newman School on Wednesday, he had achieved the seemingly impossible.

Hide AdRay, of Maltby, said: “I don’t how to describe the moment when I ran in. It was just a magical moment but then to find out about the Pride of Britain Award is just phenomenal.
“I just can’t believe it. It’s so good.”
Ray began the challenge on July 2 and hoped to raise £75,000 for specialist facilities at the school.
In fact, he has been sponsored about £20,000 but his online appeal page is still open for donations.
