LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Unhappily we have got our priorities wrong

A LOT of people expressed opinion on Facebook on your story about Rotherham being the unhappiest place to live in the UK.

The usual comments were there about the town centre being awful, with no shops and how it used to be a great night out but isn’t anymore.

Then the usual comments were made about the great places you can go to in the area, but without reference to the fact that many of these places (Clifton Park excepted) cost money to get into.

A lot of people mentioned Wentworth Woodhouse and I thought about the money being spent on this place and hundreds similar throughout the country when people are dying through cold and starvation and it just doesn’t sit well.

I know it all comes from different budgets but imagine the good that could be done for the poor and homeless, and, indeed, Rotherham town centre, with this money.

It seems as a country we have got our priorities totally wrong.
