LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Shop closure typical of Rotherham

IT’S indicative of the times in which we live that the headline story this week doesn’t surprise me. Yes, it sickens me but attacks such as this are becoming common place.

I was sad top see the demise of Wrays Butchers. The only reason I ever ventured into town was for their roasted ham hocks and pork ribs. I dread to think what the rent and rates were on that unit but RMBC seems intent on emptying the town of shops.

I’m amazed that Rotherham managed to reach 364th in the 374 strong league table. Surely not ten towns worse than what’s left of Rotherham!

As to the Christmas trees, you really couldn’t make it up! However, the same shower will be re elected at the next local elections. Labour could put up a photo of Starmer’s dog as a candidate and it would be elected.

The story of Paul Hague comes as no surprise. In my campaign against the mouth breathing drivers on Roughwood Road outside Rockingham School I was told that he was the councillor for that area and that he could arrange funds to have speed retarding measures installed. I didn’t once get an auto response email!

In 1999 I put a pond in one of my gardens. I knew even less then about ponds than I do now; too small, wrong position and last year I re-dug it. I put in enough water to sort out the liner but then realised it needed about 1,000 gallons of water and having just gone onto a water meter I cringed! However, we had a very wet April and the pond became about half full and so this autumn it’s almost full so by the spring it will be ready for the pump! No Chas, it’s nothing to do with the climate change scam, it’s called seasonal weather!

The aforementioned Charlie Foulstone’s letter this week again missed the point. We have enough oil, gas and coal in the country and offshore to provide enough fuel for at least a century. Around 400 coal-fired power stations have or are being built across the world by countries that know there’s no crisis.

As to Alan Hudson, I have a framed certificate for him; “Naive Sheep of the year!” He obviously had never heard of Agenda 30 until I mentioned it so he than writes the nonsense put out by the corrupt UN.

Has he read “The great reset” by Professor Klaus Schwab? Has he read the transcripts of his speeches in which he calls us “useless eaters” and demands an end to all private ownership? A digital currency so that we cannot buy what we want and cannot travel where and when we choose? No, I thought not. If he wants to get involved in grown-up discussions then he needs to get his facts right, otherwise leave it to those of us capable of joined-up thought!

Now, a question for all your readers; is November 25 too early to put up my Christmas decorations, inside and out?
