LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Police, Greens, Ukraine and why rugby wins

ALONG with, one imagines, most of your readers, I found the front page story last week beyond belief. I see that “Police are still investigating”, so are they waiting for the accused to go past a speed camera in excess of the speed limit?

I’m not continuing with the to and fro with Comrade Foulstone who is obviously well indoctrinated, other than to point out that his “scientific facts” are from scientists bought and paid for by you know who. Any scientist daring to oppose is instantly sacked and blacklisted. As to his comments on Town Gas, give me strength! He may remember that the main reason that we have lots of wind farms is because when Nick Clegg became deputy PM his wife was appointed as the government adviser on “Green issues” and she recommended lots of wind farms. Strangely enough she owns buckets of shares in firms that make them; hmmm, interesting coincidence, eh?  So, is the Comrade saying that because lots of wildlife will die from other causes the millions killed by the wind farms is OK? I see no comment re the indoctrination of children in schools nor the children used to mine the lithium for the kiddie car batteries.

I actually found myself agreeing with the letter of Ged Dempsey apart from the comments about Palestine. Most Arab countries secretly wish that Palestine would quietly slip into the sea. Benjamin Netanyahu summed up the situation when he said: “If Hamas put down its weapons there’d be no conflict but if Israel disarmed there’d be no Israel.” Israel sends millions of dollars in aid to Palestine each month but the MSM never mentions that.

Now on to rugby, and for any football fan wondering what this discussion is all about I’d suggest watching the Women’s Six Nations on TV. The first thing they’ll notice is a few more pony tails and Fancy Dan hair styles than any football match but no hair gel or make up. They’ll see tackles that would scare the pants off footballers and no writhing in agony each time another player brushes past them.

Then go to Clifton Lane to see and hear the “crunch” of the tackles. No segregation of fans, no bad language (lots of families attend), about half the price of attending even a League One football match, a well stocked bar where food goes beyond pies, and no police in sight. Don’t worry about not knowing the laws (rugby has laws not rules) because most of us reckon that many referees don’t know them either!

You leave the ground knowing that there won’t be any opposition fans in wait to start trouble or you can stay around and enjoy the hospitality of the club house and, all in all, a great way to spend a day; much better than being dragged around Meadowhell!
