LETTER TO THE EDITOR: A ticket to the Land of Dreams please

WHAT’S one grade up from a shambles? A farce?

Last week’s Advertiser included an article about the very late appearance of accurate timetables following the huge bus changes on October 2.

This was not news to those of us who were silly enough to try to get anywhere by bus at the time.

It was all due to “unprecedented late changes” according to the director of the Land Of Dreams (recently the South Yorkshire mayor’s public transport operations, before that South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive).

The government were late doing this, so the bus companies were late doing that, so his staff were late doing the other.

During that period bus stops and The Interchange referred passengers to the website.

The article’s writer, Gareth Dennison, suggested that unless they had smartphones they wouldn’t know what was going on.

I hope he was reassured by another Land Of Dreams employee whom he quoted as saying that only a small number of people didn’t have access to the internet.

Anyway, they could always go to The Interchange information desk (presuming that they could find out when there was a bus to take them there).

They live a sheltered life in the Land Of Dreams. I wonder if they know that there are lots of stops still referring people to the website, and some advertising buses that have been withdrawn.

It makes the Conservative Party look well organised.

But, to finish on a positive note, I congratulate Mr Dennison on getting a response from the Land Of Dreams, however dreamy. It’s more than I’ve managed.
