Letter: Third time we have been lied to over EU

I REFER to the letter from a Mr Anthony Reeder of Swinton in the Advertiser of April 22, 2016.

First of all, please note that I use the title Mr when referring to him and not just his surname which would show disrespect.

Now to his points; the first three were not relevant to my letter but yes, these events all took place. We were told that the referendum in 1975 was to join or not a free trade agreement; not the federal Europe that had been planned for many years. In 1947 Peter Thorneycroft MP said: “Creating a Federal Europe will not be without pain.” Ted Heath and Harold Wilson (the darling of the left who closed about 260 coal mines) were supposedly sworn enemies and yet they both concealed the truth about the referendum.

As far as I’m concerned every Prime Minister since Churchill would have been charged with treason and shot in World War II.

We now have Obama sticking his nose into the debate and lying his head off as he usually does; this is the man that supports the TTIP disgrace and diverts funds to terrorists from money meant to support ex-soldiers! He should stick to what he does best; destroying his own country!

As to yellow dog voters, Austin Mitchell was 100 per cent correct when he said that “Labour could put up an alcoholic or paedophile in Grimsby and win”; of course the usual hand-wringing followed at this truthful statement. In Rotherham, Labour (known as Liebour on Twitter) could put up a sack of potatoes as the candidate and win!

For those who aren’t aware, the origin of the phrase “Yellow dog” or “Yellow dog Democrats” was a political term applied to voters in the Southern United States who voted solely for candidates who represented the Democratic Party. The term originated in the late 19th century. These voters would allegedly “vote for a yellow dog before they would vote for any Republican”. The term is now more generally applied to refer to any Democrat who will vote a straight party ticket under any circumstances. In this country the term is applied to any voter who votes for a certain party no matter what.

Sadly, there are still people out there who ask: “What’s this EU thing I keep hearing about?”

How did I vote in 1975? Again that was not relevant to my letter but being a supporter of capitalism — the only form of government that works ¬— I voted to join the free trade agreement. We were lied to in 1972 and 1975 and we’re being lied to on an enormous scale in 2016 by the Remain camp.

As to the final paragraph of Mr Reeder’s letter; I don’t see his point; one assumes it was an attempt at being eloquent, but to answer it the question is: “Do we wish to rule ourselves or be ruled by a set of crooks who are both unelected and unaccountable?”

One final point; the intention of the EU Ponzi scheme is that there will eventually be no more elections and the entire continent (plus which ever countries they can drag into this mire from Asia) will be ruled by the crooks, embezzlers and spivs in Brussels.

It’s no coincidence that the two richest countries in Europe are both NOT members of the EU.

Finally, I see one reader suggests voting Green and my first reaction was “Ah bless” because the Greens make Limpdems look progressive. If the Greens ever gain power we’ll be back travelling by horse and carriage and living by candle light!
