I had a near miss this week, approaching the island from Rotherham on my way to Maltby I entered the island and had to brake suddenly having my progress stopped by a car that had suddenly braked that was going down Herringthorpe Valley Road.
It was blocking the lane I was correctly in, because of recent media coverage I approached this junction with caution but was nearly caught out, but not all motorists that approach this island will be local.
