Full-time job exposing UKIP hypocrisy

MAY I point out to Colin Tawn (Advertiser November 28) that I did not call him and Tony Homewood failed election candidates to mock, just to point out their letters were party political, rather than the views  of ‘ordinary’ members of the public. (A practice UKIP members have hidden behind for years).

The reason I didn’t address ‘the thrust’ of Mr Tawn’s letter (Advertiser November 7) about Tony Blair and The Sun is because I don’t entirely disagree with it, although the matter isn’t as simplistic as Mr Tawn would have us believe. My reply was about Mr Tawn’s hypocritical response to a letter from Dave Platts (Advertiser October 31) where Mr Tawn said Mr Platts needs to realise a lot of people don’t like Labour and its policies, but “they don’t write letters full of bile and half truths”.

My letter (November 14) edited that down to: “We don’t do that”, said Mr Tawn. If Mr Tawn is arguing those statements are not the same, he’d argue six is’'t the same as half a dozen. Or perhaps he’s saying he’s not one of those who dislike Labour and its policies.

I don’t  know what ‘imaginary conspiracy’ Mr Tawn thinks I’m accusing him of.  I said that letters attacking Labour supporters were full of sneers, condescension and worn out clichés, and quoted three letter writers, by name, on the same pages as Mr Tawn’s letter. I did NOT include him in that. Any conspiracy only exists in Mr Tawn’s fanciful imagination

As for strategy and tactics, Mr Tawn, mine are to expose UKIP and Co’s hypocrisy, dishonesty and unfitness to rule over us every time the situation arises.

It’s a full time job.
