Expensive grass cutting

I was walking on Town Lane to go walking round Greasbro Dams on Easter Sunday morning around 9.30am,when I saw a council truck dropping off grass cutters and a gang of around 12 men to cut the grass around Wingfield and Kimberworth Park.

I wonder was this really necessary on a Easter Sunday at what must have been on double time ? surely the council have more important jobs to do,like mend broken boilers, leaks etc.

This is our Council Tax that is paying for this and I for one don't think these types of jobs over a bank holiday weekend are deemed as important.Surely its a 9 to 5 job weekdays. Am I wrong to think this?
