Disgust at school bus decision

Sir, I am writing to say how really disgusted I am with Rotherham Council and SYPTE for their decision to withdraw Blackburn Primary's school bus in Sept 2012, especially as all us parents were promised at a meeting with the councillor and transport people

All the parents were in agreement with that decision. It is really unfair that this wasn't even given a go!. There's over 30 families that use the bus and some like me don't have any other means to get their kids to schooll.

The bus was originally put on over 30 years ago to let kids travel to their nearest schoo,l Blackburn, safely because Droppingwell road is dangerous to walk down.

How can they take the bus away from us when no improvements have been made?

The road is even more dangerous now with the amount of traffic that goes down and accidents that occur there.

Also with limited lighting and hardly any footpath, it is a real hazard especially in the bad weather, if you have a pram and child in tow like me.

I don't have any other means to get my kids to school so I have no other option but to walk the dangerous route and with my youngest, aged three, starting in the mornings in September, it would mean me walking up and down Droppingwell six times a day!

If they are taking away our only means of getting our kids to their nearest school safely, SYPTE need to put a service bus on that goes down Droppingwell.

Why isn't there one? It could run to Meadowhall. Us parents need to make a stand. Please don't take away our bus. We really depend on it.

A big thank-you to the bus superviser who has been brill over the years looking after our kids.

Lisa Webster, Droppingwell, Kimberworth.
