Craig's pop bet could pay off to help South Yorkshire youngster

POP wannabe Craig Head is aiming to top the Christmas charts with a song he wrote as a bet and recorded in his living room.

Craig Head, who goes under the nom-de-plume of Secret Santa, rose to the challenge after a mate bet him that he could not write lyrics.

He came up with a ditty called Pull My Cracker, which he recorded

at home in Allenton, Derby, and which is now available on iTunes or Amazon, with all proceeds going  to help three-year-old send Sheffield cerebal palsy youngster Ollie Saxtonto America for treatment.

 "I've been interested in writing songs for some time,” said the amateur tunesmith.

"Then one day, one of my work colleagues said to me, 'I bet you can't write song lyrics'. I said 'anyone can write song lyrics!' So I wrote a Christmas song, because you don't get to hear many traditional festive songs these days.

"The Christmas number one tends to be a rap song or something unrelated but as soon as you hear Slade's Merry Xmas Everyone you feel all festive and you know that's a Christmas song."

Recording the song involved kicking out wife Katy and children Bradley, 14, and Leighton, three, out of the living room.
