Anger at cancellation of Manvers late-night buses

Sir—May I just vent my anger and frustration at SYPTE for the cancellation of the evening 220 service through Manvers, which will now leave no direct access for late night workers such as myself from Manvers into town.

I find this move absolutely abysmal given they are on one hand trying to get people to give up their cars to use the buses and now are taking this option away from us — and the only response we have had from them is that we should walk into Wath centre (which is a good 20+ minutes) to get the 229 service.

I find this truly shocking from the organisation that wants to take over control of bus services in Yorkshire, yet doesn't even have the funds to fund the few supported journeys on the 220 evening service.

Workers should be aware that from Saturday 21 July, there will be no evening bus service after 10pm from Manvers. This is no good for those of us who finish at 11pm and then need to get back home. What a sorry state of affairs this is.

After contacting Stagecoach who run this service on behalf of SYPTE, I have been informed that they were intending on cancelling all services from 7pm, but Stagecoach are going to run the service until 10pm on a commercial basis with no subsidy, as they do in the daytime. At least that?s a start and hopefully they will see that there is demand and run a service a hour later as at present.
