Young dad loses cancer fight before dream holiday

A YOUNG dad who dreamed of one last family holiday before losing his cancer fight did not live long enough to go on it.

Andrew Feast (31) was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in March 2014.

More than 220 friends raised over £4,600 to send the dad-of-three to Bridlington with wife Heather (29), daughters Cody (12) and Isabell (4) and son Thomas (10).

But pals announced on his GoFundMe page last week that Andrew had died on August 30.

Fund organiser Donna Hart (49) of School Street, Thurnscoe posted: “It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I write this update.

“Sadly Andy passed away on Sunday. He showed great courage and determination during his battle against this dreadful disease.

“My love and condolences go out to his wife, kids, family and friends. We will miss him so much.”

The family had booked their last holiday to favourite destination Bridlington, to start on September 28, before Andrew died at home.

A fundraiser set for September 26 at Highgate Dog Track — which Andrew called his “leaving party” — will still go ahead.

Friend Darryl Hand (27) of Rowan Close, Highgate said money raised will go into a trust fund for the young dad’s three children.

His funeral will take place at St Hilda’s Church, Thurnscoe at 11am on September 14.
