EMERGENCY services have rescued a woman from water near Rotherham Interchange in the town centre.

Four fire engines were called to the scene - just off Frederick Street - at around 6.30am to the struggling woman, a fire service spokeswoman said, helping her to safety with a boat.

Police, firefighters and ambulance staff were still on the scene at around 8.30am, according to one eyewitness.

A police spokeswoman confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances around the incident and the woman was taken to hopsital with minor injuries.
