Woman found dead in house fire

Firefighters were called to a property on Rotherwood Crescent, Thurcroft, at around 9.45pm on Wednesday, November 16.

Crews from Maltby, Aston Park and Rotherham fire stations and a turntable ladder from Parkway all attended the incident.

A fire service spokesman said the first floor of the property “was well alight” when they arrived.

The body of a woman was found inside the property and a second woman, who was already out of the property when firefighters arrived, was taken to hospital by ambulance.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is expected to begin this morning.
