Weather warning to motorists after smashes

FIRE chiefs are urging Rotherham motorists to take extra care on frozen roads, after dealing with two serious traffic accidents in one morning.

One woman had to be freed from her car after it crashed into a ditch on Brampton Lane, Ulley, at around 9am on Friday.

Firefighters removed the vehicle’s back seats so they could pull the driver out on a spine board before sending her to Rotherham Hospital.

The 41-year-old man was taken to hospital with a suspected head injury. Passengers on the bus were evacuated safely.
