Weather warning as Storm Jonas sweeps in

THE Met Office has issued a severe weather warning as Storm Jonas - which led to up to three feet of snowfall in parts of the US - sweeps in.

But it will be rain - rather than the white stuff - that forecasters say will cause disruption across the country tomorrow (Tuesday).

A yellow ‘be aware’ warning has been issued for “heavy and persistent rain” during Tuesday and into Wednesday.

The Met Office said: “Please be aware of the risk of flooding and thus the potential for disruption to travel through this period.

“Many parts of the warning area could see 30-50 mm of rain, whilst the most exposed upland parts could see 80-100 mm.

“There remains some uncertainty with the exact location of the areas at risk of the heaviest rain, as well as the end time.”
