WEATHER: binmen battle arctic conditions
ROTHERHAM residents are being asked to be patient after bin collections were disrupted by the bad weather.
Collections on most main routes were completed this morning, but bins on many side roads were inaccessible.
Dustmen are being accompanied by gritters to try and reach as many residents as possible and green bin collections will be temporarily suspended from tomorrow to accommodate more black bin collections.

Hide AdA Rotherham Borough Council spokesman said: “The situation will be reviewed on a daily basis and we hope this isn't too much of an inconvenience to people.
“We're putting all our resources in trying to get the collections back on schedule, but, as you can appreciate, taking a large lorry down slippery side streets will be a danger not only to property and members of the public, but also our refuse teams.”
