WEATHER: big freeze continues

Freezing temperatures, which dipped as low as -10 in some areas, meant icy conditions made the journey to work hazardous, particularly on untreated side roads.

Bus services taking in minor routes are still suffering from diversions and cancellations while breakdowns and road repairs are stalling commuters elsewhere.

The A57, between South Anston and Worksop, has suffered slow-moving traffic once again due to two broken down vehicles this morning

Traffic was particularly heavy on the region's motorways this morning, caused by a combination of barrier repairs and a broken down tanker on the M18 between J2 A1(M) Wadworth and J1, A631 (Bramley)

Most Rotherham schools got back to normal today after last week's disruption, although a number were still affected by snow and ice.

Many communities spent the weekend digging themselves out of the snow, such as the residents of The Oval, North Anston (pictured).

A school's Christmas fair, called off on Saturday because of the weather, has been rescheduled for December 11.

The fair at Clifton: A Community Arts School in Middle Lane, Rotherham, will start at 10am when it will be opened by the Mayor of Rotherham. Admission costs 25p.
