Violent gang spat at police in Rotherham town centre

The gang carried out the attack on two men, on Corporation Street at around 10pm on Wednesday night.

One of the two men assaulted suffered serious facial injuries.

Officers were called to the scene and when they arrived the suspects fled the scene.

A police spokesman said that officers gave chase and as they began to restrain the men they were spat at and hit.

Four men, aged between 18 and early 20s, were arrested on suspicion of assault and have been bailed pending further enquiries.
