Young biker killed in Wombwell smash

A YOUNG motorcyclist has been killed in a crash near Wombwell.

Anthony Stirling (26, pictured) died shortly after his Ducati Multistrada left the A63 Valley Way, at around 7.30pm on Sunday.

He was passing Waterside Park, riding towards Wombwell, when he was overtaken by a silver Peugeot and a white Vauxhall Corsa, a police spokeswoman said.

It is reported that Mr Stirling then appeared to lose control, before leaving the carriageway.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Specialist officers are supporting Mr Stirling’s family.

The 35-year-old Peugeot driver was arrested at the scene and released under investigation.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, or anyone who saw the motorbike or the manner of riding prior to the crash.

They are particularly interested to see any dashcam footage of the crash or the lead up to it.
