Working for NHS is a badge of honour

BADGES made by a brother and sister team have been donated to frontline NHS workers at Rotherham Hospital.

The Orthopaedic Therapy Team and Allied Health Professionals have already received a number of badges designed by teenagers Samira and Daniel Sanders, of Sheffield, and more badges are on the way soon.

Their parents are both NHS workers — mum Iman Azmy is a consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon at Chesterfield and dad is a professor of gastroenterology at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.

Samira (15) and Daniel (12) set about making the special pin for frontline workers fighting coronavirus in hospitals across South Yorkshire.

Now they’re hoping to spread the love even further with help from donations.

Samira and Daniel wanted to show their appreciation – particularly while they were self-isolating due to their mother contracting Covid-19.

Samira said: “Our parents are both NHS workers in South Yorkshire so we have been hearing from them, as well as the news, about what people have been going through.

“Daniel and I were born in Sheffield and are lucky to have a local badge maker at the House of Logo who were kindly prepared to help.

“They helped bring our designs to life by faithfully transcribing the images to give the final result.

“We would love to give our badges to go to as many health care workers on the UK frontline as possible to help show our gratitude and hopefully bring solidarity.

“Any subsequent profit from the badges will go to the NHS – to support our NHS heroes even more at this time.

“We feel that the badge symbolises our struggle against coronavirus – we really hope that it means something to you too.”
