Wood behind cooker caused fire at Wombwell

FIRE crews from three stations were called to a blaze involving a cooker at Wombwell on Friday night.

They found it had been caused by heat from a gas hob setting fire to a piece of MDF wood which was behind a stainless steel splashback against the wall.

About three hours later, at 12.30am on Saturday, the crew from Dearne station attended a deliberate vehicle blaze involving a Transit van at Woodland View in Mexborough.
