Woman escapes as car goes airborne in crash

AN ELDERLY driver escaped with minor injuries after her car was catapulted into the air when it hit a busy Rotherham roundabout.

The silver Vauxhall Corsa landed upside down in a hedge on the opposite side of the roundabout in Warren Vale.

The car had been heading towards Swinton from Rawmarsh when the accident happened at the junction of Wentworth Road.

The road was closed for three hours while the accident was cleared.

A police spokesman said “The driver was a 79-year-old woman from Moorgate in Rotherham. She suffered minor injuries.”
