Woman dies two days after being knocked down at Wincobank

Victim Celia Jackson died in hospital two days after the crash last Wednesday (31) morning.

Police said a Mercedes A160 was reported to have collided with the pedestrian on Shiregreen Lane before hitting a parked car on Jenkin Road.

Mrs Jackson’s family said they were “shellshocked” by her death.

A police spokeswoman said: “The driver of the Mercedes, a 54-year-old man, was also taken to hospital and arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

“He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.”

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or captured what happened on dashcam. Contact 101 quoting incident 212 of July 31.
