Woman arrested after 'possible' crash at West Melton

A WOMAN was arrested after an incident described by South Yorkshire Police as a “possible” road traffic collision.

The 22-year-old, from Sheffield, was held on suspicion of stealing a car after a blue Ford Fiesta was recovered at Christchurch Road in West Melton.

Officers believe another vehicle — potentially a bicycle — was involved in a crash at about 12.25am yesterday (Tuesday).

A force spokesperson said: “We are eager to speak to anyone who was in the Christchurch Road area between midnight and 12.30am, who may have seen or heard anything suspicious, or anyone who may have seen a blue Ford Fiesta or a cyclist in the area at this time.

“If you witnessed or know anything about this incident, we would urge you to contact us.”

The woman remained in custody last night as enquiries continued.
