Woman arrested after OAP (89) robbed at bus stop

A 31-YEAR-old woman has been arrested after an elderly woman was reportedly robbed at a bus stop.

The 89-year-old suffered a broken arm and banged her head in the incident at a bus stop in Roughwood Road at 1.30pm yesterday, police said.

A spokeswoman said the OAP had been approached by a woman who grabbed her handbag.

"As the bag was wrapped around the elderly woman's walking frame, this caused her to fall and she hit her head," she said.

"Over £300 in cash was taken in the incident, along with keys and bank cards.

"While the pensioner went to hospital to be treated for her injuries, officers conducted numerous enquiries, which led to a woman being arrested on suspicion of robbery yesterday afternoon and she remains in police custody.

"The pensioner has since been discharged from hospital and is now recovering at home."
